I'd like to run the VANOS bleed on my '08 M5 as it's rattly at startup, although it doesn't throw any codes. From what I understand, DIS v44 can do this. I've been being a diligent boy and searching the interwebs but am having a heck of a time. I found this thread which details setting up the VMWare virtual machine and installing EasyDIS v44, but the pictures and, more importantly, the download links, are missing. I found this thread which contains a link to EasyDIS and a bunch of other related software, but the files are all on some site called 4shared and I can't get them to download--when I click the link, it says it's going to save the files in my 4shared folder (What 4shared folder? I don't have one!) and then gives me an 'unauthorized' error message.!
I also found a site called bmwcode.com (I think) that had links to the files on some service called Mega (again, I think) which made me install some kind of plugin just to work with their service, but each time I attempted to download the files, they'd throw errors around 80-90% and not proceed any further. Seriously, is it that hard to just serve files for download? Does anyone have a good link to those files to be able to download, or have those files saved and be willing to upload them? I've got a web server that I'd be happy to host them on for others to be able to use. Just posted this comment on the Beemer Lab page. 'At first, I was extremely happy to find this page. The download links actually worked, and there were instructions.
But, now I'm just frustrated. Your instructions are vague in some places, blatantly missing information in others, and assume that other users will magically know which instruction files to refer to (there are multiple ones contained in the ZIPs) and which settings to change. My complaining probably won't motivate you to help, but I figure this is pretty much a lost cause at this point and I might as well get better acquainted with my local BMW dealer.' So, after getting frustrated, I figured--if it's this much of a pain, there must be someone selling a simpler version. Sure enough, there are multiple items on Ebay.
There's this one, which includes INPA, DIS v57, and Progman GT1, which indicates that it works on models up to 03/2007. Soal bahasa inggris smp. My M5 is an '08--presumably built after that date, but probably not too far after, so I'm not sure if this one will work. It's only $42 shipped (from Romania) and it includes the cable and the software preinstalled on DVD, so you just copy it to your hard drive and run it instead of having to go through installation. Then there's this one, says it supports models up to 06/2015 and apparently includes newer versions of the software, although it does not specifically mention DIS like the $42 version does. It's $84 shipped, from the same seller. I've emailed the seller about which version he recommends and, barring any compelling reason not to, will be buying whatever he suggests.
EASYDIS v44 (2 discs – Base & Programs). VMWare version 6 (or version 6.5). Other versions of VMWare will probably work but the methods of setting up the.
Edit - Strongly considering this one, too. Seller is in the UK (which I feel slightly more comfortable about than Romania for no logical reason) and promises an easy install with post-installation support.
It's about $121 shipped.
